Little
Cayman Fishing...
Years before divers discovered Little Cayman's Bloody Bay Wall
and proclaimed it one of the underwater wonders of the diving world, a select group of
U.S. fisherman founded the Southern
Cross Club fishing lodge and were already wondering how to keep "crowds"
away from their cherished refuge.
Little Cayman's reputation as a great fishing destination has grown, because of the
variety of angling experiences it offers--and the ease of finding them. Few small
Caribbean islands can make this claim: anglers can catch and release a bonefish, try
newly-tied flies on tarpon and land a yellowfin tuna or other pelagic gamefish all in the
same day. Today, these three distinct sportfishing opportunities still challenge anglers
year-round.
While good deep sea fishing also exists within a quarter to a half-mile offshore where the
deep water begins (for gamefish including blue marlin, dolphin, wahoo, tuna and barracuda)
Little Cayman's main attraction for anglers is light tackle action from bonefish, small
tarpon and permit.
Of the three Cayman Islands, Little Cayman remains the one best prepared to accommodate
skilled anglers who want light tackle fishing action.
